The Reading Agency appoints Sue Williamson MBE as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees
The Reading Agency is delighted to announce the appointment of Sue Williamson as Vice Chair of its Board of Trustees, bringing over 25 years of leadership experience in the library sector to her new role. The announcement follows Paul Kelly, global CEO of DK’s appointment as Chair in February 2024.
Sue worked in public libraries for 18 years, culminating as Head of Library Services in St Helens before joining the Arts Council in 2018 as National Director for Libraries. Under her leadership, the Arts Council tripled its investment in libraries and supported nationally and internationally significant library projects.
Currently serving as President of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, Sue’s love of libraries stems from her lifelong passion for reading for pleasure – one she is devoted to sharing even in retirement.
We are thrilled to welcome Sue to our Board of Trustees as Vice Chair. Her passion for reading and dedication to public libraries make her an invaluable addition as we continue our mission to inspire more people to read.
Karen Napier, CEO of The Reading Agency

After joining the Board last year, I am incredibly excited to use my appointment to help to advance and advocate for their important work nationally.
