Frank Cadaver’s Horror Writing Guide

To celebrate the first book in new teen horror series The Blood Texts, Join author Frank Cadaver in a 30 – 60 minute workshop.

The discussion will start off with the different types of horror stories (Slasher, Psychological, etc), before moving onto the Types of Scares (Jumps, Repulsion etc). Finally, discussions on Stephen King’s 3 Hierarchies of Fear (Gross Out, Horror, and Terror) will round of the talk. A final exercise will be to describe a terrifying scene or story that fits with King’s highest grade – Terror.

Author
As the evil bizarro twin of middle-grade fiction author Colm Field (Kyan Green), Frank Cadaver does not put on a scary voice or wear a mask. He does write some fairly dark material, however, and is morbidly excited at the Halloween release of his debut teen horror, You’d Better Watch Out! Frank is London-based, but has connections with the Midlands, Newcastle, and Devon that he would be delighted to exploit if several visits could be arranged at once. Hell, he’ll sleep on a couch in the seventh circle of Hell if he can visit enough libraries there.

YOU’D BETTER WATCH OUT: Evangeline knows she isn’t perfect. She might even be a bully. But did her dad really need to bring that freaky-looking Watching Elf home? Just how old does he think she is?! Then footsteps scuttle beneath the fairy lights. Wrongdoers are attacked, each assault more violent and disturbing than the last. When she finds a tacky old horror magazine warning of a malevolent demon that flays your skin in the spirit of Christmas, Evangeline is filled with dread; is this connected to that hideous doll watching her from the hallway? And if so, what if she is on the naughty list? BOOK #1 IN TEEN HORROR SERIES THE BLOOD TEXTS: Something is very wrong in the teenaged lives of this new horror series. From the collectible craze that descends into a brain devouring cult, to the chain letter with real murder in its lines, these are anxiety-riddled plunges into darkness set in Anytown UK, creepypasta served al dente, where the most everyday matters are twisted into unspeakable horror, linked only by a bizarre 90’s magazine nobody has heard of, The Blood Texts!!!
