Witch Fire - review from Sunderland

Members of a teenage reading group from Sunderland recently won free copies of Laura Powell's Witch Fire by signing up to Reading Groups for Everyone. Here's what they thought about the book.
Witch Fire by Laura Powell is the follow up to Burn Mark and is set in a future world where witches and humans live side by side but witchcraft is treated with a great deal of suspicion by humans. The alternate world is really well created and brought to life by different groups that live there like the Inquisition, WICA and the Coven. The Inquisition are especially horrible and use terrifying medieval torture against the witches. We really liked the characters of Lucas and Glory, and liked how at first they did not want to work together and be friends but were gradually drawn together as the story went on. The plot is action packed and keeps you wanting to turn the pages to find out what is going to happen and there are a lot of surprises in the story. We would recommend this to anyone who not only likes fantasy and witchcraft stories but also likes stories that have really good characters and are exciting all the way through.
