We've really enjoyed receiving news and updates from all the Summer Reading Challenge volunteers in the last few weeks. Volunteers have been busy helping libraries to make sure children all over the UK have the best Mythical Maze experience possible!
Here's some young volunteers at Dulverton library after their face painting session:
Jessica from Newcastle library says, "I love the t-shirt and have really enjoyed the opportunity to promote the Summer Reading Challenge to children at Newcastle library."
Some volunteers have even got involved with making films, like the group of volunteers who made this film about a contemporary dance performance in Yate shopping centre, South Gloucestershire. The dance was based on The Mythical Maze theme.
Others have put on plays in school assemblies to showcase what the Summer Reading Challenge is to children, like this group of young volunteers in Hampshire.
Some volunteers have been involved in this Mythical Beast live animal drawing workshops, such as this volunteer in Central Library, Blackpool. Would you get this close to a snake?
Although for some, the thought of getting this close to a creepy crawly may have been too scary, so they made their own Mythical Maze creatures!
The Willerby Medusa by East Riding Summer Reading Challenge volunteers:
Or this dragon made of volunteer hands, also from East Riding Summer Reading Challenge volunteers:
"I loved helping as a volunteer for the Summer Reading Challenge. Interaction with members of the public, other volunteers and library staff built up my confidence of speaking to others. I really hope that the other volunteers enjoyed this as much as I did and I am defiantly going to be helping in next years reading challenge." - Jade, Bournemouth.
We'll leave you with the video from five Doncaster Summer Reading Challenge volunteers, that tells the story of Theseus and the Minotaur in movement:
