OurVoice, the Reading Activists group in Gateshead, recently organised The Look, a fashion event to celebrate Newcastle Fashion Week and raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. Group leader Sandra Clemens wrote the following report and provided the photos below.
On Saturday 1 June, 50 young people came to Central Library to watch catwalk shows, make jewellery and t-shirts and browse our stalls. Our group has spent the last two months planning and promoting 'The Look' to teenagers, and everyone who arrived really enjoyed themselves. On arrival, the young people received a Metrocentre canvas bag filled with goodies, and then spent their time making shamballa style bracelets and earrings with Sarah Green from Peridot Crafts, making t-shirts and using the library Wii and Ipad Mini's. The highlight of the day were the catwalk shows, which showed off clothes from Lexi Fashion in the Metrocentre. The girls from OurVoice planned the routines, the music and made a video for the shows, which went down really well. The whole event was planned to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust and we raised over £190 for the charity on the day. All in all, a great success.

Well done to everyone involved!
