Some exciting time-traveling news from Reading Activists in Gateshead...
For the last 2 months, Reading Activists Gateshead have been working in partnership with Sally Lockey from Flo-culture and with History Pin, on a creative project called 'Trace'. This project is part of Bridge North East's Digital Libraries Residency.
The group have been using the library's iPads to create and showcase a series of new digital artworks that they created through the digital manipulation of archive imagery. The images were selected by the Reading Activists from Gateshead Libraries photography archive. They were then digitised and merged with new photographs taken by the group, and have been uploaded and showcased on a dedicated project page within History Pin's website.
You can see the original archive photography and the group's final image on the Trace channel on www.historypin.com.
Here are some photos of the Reading Activists hard at work, but for the real deal make sure you check out their channel.
