50 Word horror story competition winners

In November, we launched a 50 word horror story competition. The competition was inspired by two new scary books that have had us trembling in our boots, Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell and Sleepless by Lou Morgan.
These two great authors agreed to judge the competition and they awarded first prize to Jordan.
It was a dark, gloomy night. Charlotte was walking down the hallway in a psychiatric hospital. She was a patient. The hollow sound of snoring echoed. Suddenly the sound of screams rang sharp in her ears. Charlotte turned to run but... there he was. One last scream. Now forever silence.
Congratulations, Jordan. You are the lucky winner of a £20 Waterstones voucher and a reading group set of the books.
Runners up
The two runners up selected by Alex and Lou are as follows.
The first is a story by Charlotte from Warrington.
Darkness. It burns my eyes. This place is so strange that even though my feet are on the ground I don't know which way is up. I've been here so long, time seems a luxury I can't have. Something's different now though. I feel it, behind me. And it's hungry.
The second is a story by Clara from Warrington.
Gingerly, I tiptoe down the stairs. It's Christmas time, a time of festive love and laughter. For me, it's a world of black blue and red. My skin art proves that. His words too. They wriggle around in my head and eat away at my soul. I feel his presence. He throws out his fist. Blackness follows.
