About the Campaign
The Big Jubilee Read is a national reading for pleasure campaign celebrating great reads by celebrated authors from the Commonwealth to mark Her Majesty the Queen's Jubilee. The campaign will be delivered by The Reading Agency with funding from the Arts Council and support from Libraries Connected, the Booksellers Association and other key partners. Nineteen years on from the Big Read we're delighted to be partnering with the BBC on this exciting campaign.
The Big Jubilee Read will connect a broad and inclusive audience of readers with seventy great reads by Commonwealth authors, ten for each decade of Her Majesty the Queen's reign. It will be celebrated through promotion and events in libraries and bookshops and high-level media coverage. The chosen books will be recommended by readers with the final selection made by an expert panel.
**Call out for recommendations **
We'd like your help in recommending titles for consideration and promoting the call out across your networks. To be considered books must:
- Be published in the last seventy years (1952-2022) by an author from the Commonwealth
- Be considered a great read of a decade
- Appeal to diverse and inclusive audience
- Be in print or available in e-book format
Titles can include fiction, poetry and graphic novels but not non-fiction. Books in translation are welcome.
All recommendations should include author, title and year of publication and a short summary of reasons for recommendation. They should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by 16 December 2022. The list of 70 Big Jubilee Reads will be selected in January 2022.
