We are supporting Good Morning Britain's Just Read, a week-long, national TV campaign from 8 to 12 September to get children reading and for parents and carers to spend ten minutes a day reading with their children.
We have been liaising closely with libraries to organise a nationwide event that will run on Saturday 13 September, in selected libraries. On Wednesday 10 September the programme broadcast from Deptford Lounge children's library in south London and Good Morning Britain to announce that 203 libraries across the UK are giving away 10,150 Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, courtesy of children's publisher, Puffin.
The programme highlighted just how vital libraries are for the nation's literacy, how books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid can really help children discover the joy of reading for pleasure and how libraries make reading accessible to all.
As well as the giveaway, children who visit the selected libraries on 13 September will be also able to take part in fun activities with a Wimpy Kid theme. Here's a taster of the Wimpy Kid in action.
