Reading Sparks

Reading Sparks is a new project to engage children and families with science through reading from The Reading Agency. The project is funded by Arts Council England and Science and Technology Facilities Council and delivered in partnership with public libraries, the British Science Association, and NUSTEM at the University of Northumbria. The overall aim of Reading Sparks is to build confidence and engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) among children, young people and families and to demonstrate the role that creative reading and activities can play in sparking engagement with STEM.
Reading Sparks has been piloted with 11 library authorities in England and the initial evaluation findings have been very positive. Library services and young people have been involved in curating and co-creating activities.
