Research partnership with Coventry University

We're delighted to be partners with Coventry University on a research project that involves our Chatterbooks children's reading groups, funded by EEF - The Education Endowment Fund.
The project will run in secondary schools in the West Midlands during the summer term, to encourage Year 7 students whose literacy levels were lower than the target at Year 6. They will be taking part in weekly Chatterbooks children's reading groups with lots of creative activities to get them wanting to read, and talk about, more books.
Our standard Chatterbooks approach will be compared with a new reading group approach which includes dialogic prompts. The team at the Centre for Applied Research in Psychology at Coventry University - led by Professor Clare Wood - is currently identifying schools to be involved in the research, and will be recruiting research assistants in the new year.
