With colourful characters including Snow Trolls and spaghetti-eating Yetis, there's plenty of fun to be had in Pugs of the Frozen North, this year's Winter Mini Challenge title.
The Winter Mini Challenge encourages children to keep reading through those cold winter holidays.
This winter we are snow excited to team up with our publisher partner Oxford Children's Books to run a brrr-illiant Pugs of the Frozen North themed Mini Challenge!
About Pugs of the Frozen North
The Race to the Top of the World!
It comes around once in a lifetime, and the prize? Your heart's desire.
Shen and Sika can't resist the chance to win, but competition is fierce. The path to victory is littered with snow trolls, sea monsters, and a gang of particularly hungry yetis.
But Shen and Sika have something the other contestants don't have. Actually, they have 66 other things; pugs to be exact. That's a 264 paw-powered sled. Let the race begin!
'A snow-bound Wacky Races.' - Philip Ardagh
Pugs of the Frozen North is an action-packed adorable-pug-filled adventure from Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre, and we can't wait for children to join in the fun!
How can children take part in the Winter Mini Challenge?
The Winter Mini Challenge is run through our year-round children's website.
To take part, children simply read three books of their choice over the winter period, then add each book to their Challenge website profile and leave a short book review.
Rating and reviewing three books online will unlock a virtual badge and a special Pugs of the Frozen North certificate to print off and keep!
The Winter Mini Challenge starts on Monday 2 December 2019 and finishes on Monday 13 January 2020.
Books added to the website during this period will count towards unlocking the Mini Challenge rewards.
We'll also have a whole host of fun activities and reading recommendations, plus an exciting new competition.
Oxford Children's Books are providing materials to create stunning displays and activity packs to inspire children's imaginations!
