Introducing our Summer Reading Challenge partners 2015

Huge thanks to the partners who are supporting this year's Summer Reading Challenge, helping us start even more children on their reading journey. We couldn't do it without them.
Guinness World Records
This year the Summer Reading Challenge has teamed up with Guinness World Records - the global authority in record-breaking achievements and publisher of the annual Guinness World Records ™book - to establish a "Record Breakers" themed Challenge. Record Breakers brings together fact and fiction, challenging young readers to explore astonishing real-life achievements and world records.
Jenny Heller, VP, Publishing, for Guinness World Records, says:
We are absolutely delighted that our partnership with The Reading Agency is supporting children to become confident readers by engaging with educational content that they genuinely enjoy. We know how much children look forward to discovering new Guinness World Records facts and achievements every year, so to bring a record-breaking opportunity to the heart of this reading challenge is an honour for us as we mark our 60th anniversary.
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (GWR) is the universally recognised global authority on record-breaking achievement. First published in 1955, over 132 million copies - and 3 million e-books - have been sold in 20 languages, in more than 100 countries. 2015, GWR celebrates the 60th anniversary of its first published edition and the creation of one of the world's most successful and recognised brands.

Tesco Bank
The Challenge in Scotland has been supported by Tesco Bank since 2011; since then it has been called the Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge Scotland. Since Tesco Bank came on board, total participation has grown by 33%.
Adele Mills, Senior Community Investment Manager, Tesco Bank, says:
We are delighted that our partnership with The Reading Agency and Scotland's libraries enables tens of thousands of children to take part in reading for fun. As with all our programmes, our commitment is to widen accessibility and provide valuable opportunities for children be it through sport, the arts or reading.
Through Tesco Bank's Community Programme they aim to:
• Create opportunities for young people that inspire, equip and enable them to build the skills and confidence needed to develop a successful future.
• Support local communities through fundraising and volunteering for local and national charities, helping colleagues and customers support the causes that matter most to them.
• Encourage positive wellbeing to make it easier and more appealing for colleagues and communities to live healthier lives.

SOLUS
For the second year running, SOLUS has developed a Summer Reading Challenge app to add some digital magic to the Challenge. Families, libraries and schools taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge in 2015 will be able to download a free mobile app onto their devices which will recognise the characters, unlock games and trigger audio visual content. This year, the app will enable children to access our Book Sorter, where children can share their favourite reads and discover books recommended by other children.
Neil Wishart, CEO of SOLUS, says:
The partnership with The Reading Agency is very exciting for SOLUS as reading and literacy are key to life chances. With children glued to tablets and phones, it makes sense to engage with them on their devices but use them in a positive way. Give them a unique experience within the library setting; something unexpected, fun and engaging and then tie that back into the educational goal of reading and literacy. We believe that there is a great fit with the ethos of the Summer Reading Challenge and wish The Reading Agency every success for this year's programme.
SOLUS is a Reading Agency sponsor and a digital company which provides interactive screen technology, apps, games and augmented reality experiences to a variety of audiences, including library services.
The Summer Reading Challenge app for 2015 will be available to download soon - watch this space!
