We're so excited to be a part of the 500 Words competition. We read around 5,000 of the best stories each year and help the BBC decide which stories go through to the final. We love reading the funny, exciting and creative stories each year that kids have written.
Our judges are raring to go for this year, and wanted to share their experiences.
The 500 Words competition, created by Chris Evans on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show, launches today, Monday 15 January. It is one of the most successful story-writing competitions for kids in the world, and helps to get children excited about reading and writing.
Reading for pleasure is more important to children’s successes than education or social class. The Summer Reading Challenge gets three quarters of a million children into libraries to keep up their reading skills and confidence during the long holidays while Chatterbooks reading groups help build a lifelong reading habit. Because everything changes when we read.
