On Monday 3 November, day one of Dyslexia Awareness Week 2014, we held an event with Barrington Stoke at the Free Word Centre to say thank you to all those involved in the publication of Picture Squirrels, Barrington Stoke's new picture book list, and celebrate our ongoing partnership with the publisher.
A good book can bring a huge amount of joy, but for those who struggle with words, reading is not always fun and it's easy to lose heart and stop trying. That's why Barrington Stoke has teamed up with the charity Dyslexia Action to create a free guide to choosing children's books for reluctant readers and those with dyslexia.
The book guide includes books by top children's authors including Roald Dahl, David Walliams and Malorie Blackman; it includes a wide variety of books, from funny stories to read aloud and share at an early age, through to spine chilling horror titles to captivate teens.
We are delighted to be working with Barrington Stoke and Dyslexia Action to make printed copies of the guide available at libraries across the country.

Barrington Stoke also offer a booklet of reading hints and tips for parents of reluctant or struggling readers.
