Programmes
Our UK-wide reading programmes reach hugely diverse groups of people, from children as young as four to adults. Our co-creation model means our programmes are developed and delivered with participants and partners. Each is shaped by our research and evaluation, and tailored to meet the specific needs of beneficiaries while keeping our purpose in mind: to tackle life's big challenges through the proven power of reading.
We champion children's reading, with our library partners, through programmes like Chatterbooks and the Summer Reading Challenge, which involves over 700,000 children every year. We create volunteering opportunities for young people and work with them to promote reading.

Reading Well is developed and endorsed by health professionals and people with lived experience. It is delivered in partnership with Libraries Connected and helps people understand and manage their health and wellbeing using useful reading. Reading Ahead builds the skills and confidence of young people and adults. World Book Night is our nationwide celebration of reading every 23 April. Reading Friends is our exciting new UK-wide programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund, which tackles loneliness and isolation by starting conversations through reading.
We work with well-known authors to create Quick Reads, short books aimed at people who struggle with reading. The books are distributed across a wide range of public institutions, as well as being sold in bookshops.
We have strong partnerships with publishers as well as with public libraries, learning and health professionals. We work with them to profile books and authors to our network of 4,000 adult reading groups.
We believe there is something for everyone in our programmes, reflecting and highlighting our vision for a world where everyone is reading their way to a better life.
