When I was a child I was known in my family as "the one carrying around all those books" as I always had a pile of them wherever I went. I was convinced (and I still am) that there is a book for every need and circumstance, so I always had with me a selection of texts to choose from: you never know which mood you'll be in while waiting for your dentist's appointment.
Books never failed me and I always found the right one to support me when I was down and to enhance my joy when I was up. Books made me laugh and made me cry, but above all they made me more brave and confident as, the more I read, the more things I knew were possible (at least to imagine).
I have been lucky enough to be raised by adults that passed me their love for books and reading and I think every person should have these invaluable companions - books - in their life. That's why I am excited to work for an organisation as The Reading Agency, that supports reading and does what the adults around me were doing when I was a child, but on a much larger scale.
